LUWINGU COUNCIL OPENS ROADS TO NEW GRAVEYARD SITE

Luwingu Town Council says it has commenced works to open 31 kilometres of access roads in the New Luwingu area, off the Mansa-Kasama Road, where the local authority’s first-ever graveyard site is being developed.

According to the Council, the road works are being undertaken using funding from the Land Development Fund under the Ministry of Lands, as part of efforts to improve accessibility and facilitate development in the newly planned area.

Council Secretary Gift Kakoma said the opening of the roads will enable developers to access their plots and commence construction.

Mr. Kakoma, who inspected the progress of the works, stated that the road works are also expected to improve accessibility to the New Luwingu area and support orderly development as the town expands.

“The works include road formation, spot gravelling and compacting of the roads,” Mr. Kakoma said.

He stressed that the Council is working to ensure that the necessary access infrastructure is put in place to facilitate development in the area.

“The works are expected to be completed before the end of August, after which developers will be able to commence construction on their respective plots,” he stated.

Mr. Kakoma added that the development of the new graveyard and access roads is expected to provide the local authority with additional space for burials while opening up the New Luwingu area for further development.
