Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has confiscated more than 4,700 cases of assorted smuggled alcoholic beverages in Kazungula, resulting in an estimated revenue loss exceeding K4.1 million.
The seized beverages, including Glenmorangie, Four Cousins, Gordon’s Gin, Fat Bastard, Jameson, Malibu, and Tequilas, were intercepted on Sunday, 22nd February 2026.
ZRA Corporate Communications Manager Oliver Nzala said the attempted smuggling by five importers involved forged documents for another Customs Accredited Clients Program (CACP).
Mr. Nzala reminded importers and transporters involved in similar schemes that they risk having their goods and trucks seized and forfeited to the state, while also facing prosecution in the Courts of Law.
“By taking decisive action against these fraudulent activities, the Authority aims to promote legitimate trade,” he said.
He encouraged all importers to make correct declarations of goods being imported into the country.
“We would like to call upon the business community to always ensure that whenever they are dealing with ZRA, all their transactions should be correct and truthful,” Mr. Nzala urged.
“In this case, the Authority has seized both the vessel, which is the truck used in the smuggling activity, and the over 4,700 cases of assorted alcoholic beverages.”
He also encouraged the public and transporters to report any potential cases of smuggling to the Authority.
