Tobacco Board of Zambia (TBZ) says it is optimistic about the prospects of increasing the country’s tobacco exports to other regional markets.
Board Executive Director Robert Mwale said TBZ is targeting to secure vital market access for the crop, unlocking opportunities for Zambian growers who rely heavily on stable markets to sustain their livelihoods.

Mr. Mwale, who attended the official opening of the tobacco marketing season in Zimbabwe, emphasized the importance of partnerships and collaboration.
He noted that Zimbabwe has been an all-weather friend in terms of tobacco trade and the exchange of ideas.
“Ensuring market accessibility for our growers is a key focus area, and we are committed to enhancing market accessibility for our growers,” Mr. Mwale stated.
Mr. Mwale said the visit underscores the Board’s efforts to expand market options for Zambian tobacco, potentially boosting the country’s economy and benefiting local farmers.
The Zambian delegation also had the opportunity to interact with industry stakeholders, including farmers, buyers and policymakers, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral trade and cooperation.
“TBZ is confident that this engagement will open up new avenues for Zambian tobacco, enhancing the livelihoods of thousands of farmers and contributing to the country’s economic growth,” he said.
This is according to a statement issued by TBZ Corporate Affairs and Communications Manager, Lee Haamunji.
