David Mwale is set to defend his World Boxing Council International Bantamweight title against South African challenger Charlton Malajika on July 25, 2026, at the Government Complex in Lusaka.
The highly anticipated bout is being promoted by Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions in partnership with Golden Gloves.
Mwale, popularly known as “Sniper,” is reported to be in top condition as he intensifies preparations under the guidance of his manager Christopher Malunga and coach Michael Zulu.
According to a statement issued by Malunga, the champion’s preparations are progressing smoothly, with the team confident of a strong title defence on home soil.
“Mwale is in top condition and all preparations are moving according to plan,” Malunga said.
As part of the build-up to the championship clash, Mwale and his team are scheduled to travel to South Africa on May 15 for a face-to-face meeting with Malajika ahead of the bout.
The trip will also provide the Zambian boxer and his team an opportunity to attend a major WBC Bridgerweight showdown featuring Kevin Lerena and Ryad Merhy later this month.
The title defence is expected to attract significant attention from boxing fans across the region, with Mwale aiming to further cement his reputation as one of Zambia’s leading boxing talents.
A victory would strengthen his standing on the international stage and potentially open doors for bigger championship opportunities in the bantamweight division.
