Tobacco Board of Zambia (TBZ) says tobacco industry’s immense contribution to the country’s economy is a testament to the government’s efforts in promoting Direct Foreign Investment (FDI) in the sector.

TBZ Executive Director, Robert Mwale, noted that this trajectory tells a compelling story of how the industry has grown, attracting investors and transforming the tobacco landscape in Zambia.
Mr. Mwale made the remarks when a high-level delegation of industry leaders and government representatives gathered in Kaoma District of Western Province ,to witness firsthand the growing tobacco investments in the region.
He hailed stakeholders in the sector for their investment and contributions to the country’s economy, helping thousands of households in Zambia to improve their livelihoods.
According to a statement issued by TBZ Corporate Affairs and Communications Manager, Lee Haamunji, the familiarization tour was aimed at appreciating the strides made by tobacco stakeholders in transforming the local economy.
“The tour showcased the growth and development of the tobacco industry in Zambia,” the statement read.
During the tour, the delegation interacted with local farmers, industry players, and government officials, gaining valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities within the sector.
