KALULUSHI COUNCIL DIRECTED TO ENSURE EQUITABLE DISTRIBUTION OF CDF TO ALL WARDS

By Cecilia Chiluba

Minister of Local Government and Rural Development has directed the Kalulushi Municipal Council to ensure that all wards receive the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) resources equitably.

Speaking during a monitoring tour of CDF projects in Kalulushi District, Gift Sialubalo stressed that every Zambian is entitled to benefit from the national cake.

Sialubalo also urged local authorities and community members to work together to safeguard the projects and ensure they deliver lasting benefits.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of CDF projects.

“We want to see more community ownership and participation. Together, we can ensure that every Kwacha spent under CDF leads to meaningful development,” Mr. Sialubalo stated.

Mr. Sialubalo noted that the government’s decision to increase CDF allocations is bearing fruit, with tangible improvements in sectors such as education, health, water and sanitation, and infrastructure.

He highlighted that Kalulushi has so far implemented 69 community projects across the constituency, appreciating the positive impact that CDF projects are having on communities.

“The CDF is not just a fund; it is a tool for empowering citizens and improving livelihoods at the grassroots level.”

“From classroom blocks to health posts, skills training centers to market shelters, we are seeing real change that is directly touching the lives of our people,” he said.

Mr. Sialubalo inspected several CDF projects, including a newly constructed health post, a youth skills training centre, and upgraded market facilities.

At Chembe Market, one of the sites visited, traders expressed gratitude for the construction of a modern ablution block, noting that it has significantly improved sanitation standards and created a healthier trading environment.

“The limited access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities had been a long-standing challenge, and welcomed the new infrastructure as a development that would not only promote hygiene but also attract more customers to the market.

This is according to a statement issued by Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Principal Public Relations Officer, Liseli Kanyanga.
