K3 MILLION NAMABANGA DAM WILL SERVE AS VITAL SOURCE OF WATER FOR LIVESTOCK FARMERS-NZOVU

By Cecilia Chiluba

Minister of Water Development and Sanitation says the Namabanga dam in Nangoma constituency, which was constructed at a cost of K3 million will serve as a vital source of water for livestock farmers.

The Namabanga dam in Mumbwa, Central province, was constructed by Zambia National Service (ZNS) and it is aimed at harvesting water for irrigation and domestic use.

In Facebook post monitored by Money News, Eng. Collins Nzovu stated that the dam, which was constructed using the Constituency Development Funds (CDF), has a capacity of one million cubic liters of water.

Eng. Nzovu, who is also Nangoma Constituency Member of Parliament, said through the dam, his office has encouraged people to engage in winter maize cultivation, contributing to food security in the community constituency and the country at large.

“This initiative aligns with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision for water harvesting, and I am proud to lead by example in my constituency,” Eng. Nzovu said.

He noted that the dam is not only a source of water but also a hub for economic activity as people are now able to enjoy the benefits of fishing and tourism, boosting local economic growth.

“To those who still doubt the effectiveness of CDF, I say that Namabanga dam is a promise made, promise fulfilled.”

“This project demonstrates the power of community-driven development and the impact of CDF in transforming our constituencies,” he added.

Eng. Nzovu expressed confidence that the dam will continue to play a vital role in the community’s development.
