Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, says mobile money continues to serve as a key enabler of financial inclusion.
Officiating at the launch of MTN Zambia’s Wina Nyumba na Momo Promotion in Lusaka, Chipoka Mulenga noted that mobile money provides access to financial services for individuals, households, and businesses across both urban and rural areas.
And Mr. Mulenga highlighted the broader impact of the initiative, emphasizing the role of innovation in national development.
“This promotion reflects a practical application of digital innovation that enhances participation in the formal financial system without creating barriers to entry,” Mr. Mulenga stated.
The Wina Nyumba na MoMo, is a nationwide promotion designed to celebrate and reward customers for their everyday use of Mobile Money services.
Speaking earlier, MTN Mobile Money Chief Executive Officer, Komba Malukutila, said the campaign gives Zambians the chance to win life-changing prizes by using the MoMo services they already rely on.
“Wina Nyumba na MoMo is our way of saying thank you by giving customers the chance to win simply for using a service that already makes their lives easier. Last year, we gave away five brand-new cars, creating unforgettable moments for families across Zambia. The excitement, the joy, and the stories inspired us.”
“This year, we are taking things even further. In 2026, we are turning dreams into reality by giving one lucky customer the chance to win a brand-new home of their own, while thousands more walk away with cash prizes,” he said.
He noted that the campaign involves Micmar and Dangote Cement, both key players in Zambia’s construction industry, adding that their participation supports the initiative and contributes to its successful implementation.
And Micmar Investments Limited Chief Executive Officer, Michael Kroupnik, said owning a home is a significant milestone, and his firm is committed to supporting such initiatives.
“At Micmar, we believe in driving meaningful impact within our communities. We are passionate about supporting initiatives that change lives and build a stronger future for all Zambians. This is why we are proud to partner with MTN on the ‘Wina Nyumba’ campaign,” he added.
The “Wina Nyumba na MoMo” promotion is open to all active MoMo customers across Zambia and will run from April 2026 to August 2026. One lucky customer will walk away with a brand-new house. In addition, five customers will each win K100,000 over the course of five months, while 1,000 customers every month will receive cash prizes of up to K2,000.
Participation is simple: customers only need to deposit money into their MoMo accounts and continue with their everyday transactions, such as sending money, paying bills, buying airtime and bundles, or making payments using MoMo. Monthly winners will be contacted via 115 or 215 throughout the promotional period.
Beyond rewarding loyal customers, the promotion supports MTN MoMo’s broader vision of increasing financial inclusion by ensuring that safe, convenient, and accessible financial services reach individuals, families, and small businesses across both rural and urban communities.
