Government has disclosed that the redemption of farming inputs by farmers under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) in Lusaka Province currently stands at 99.57 percent ahead of the initiative’s closure next week.
Lusaka Provincial Administration Principal Public Relations Officer, Logic Lukwanda, said the total number of beneficiaries for the FISP 2025/2026 farming season in the province is 59,188.
“Those who have redeemed as of 5th January 2026 are 58,932, representing 99.57%, leaving out only 256 farmers yet to redeem due to technicalities on their end, which government is sorting out speedily,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lukwanda disclosed that the Provincial Administration has dispatched 10,000 litres of pesticides (Karate) to all six districts in the province for the control of Fall Armyworms, following procurement by the Ministry of Agriculture.
He sstated that the pesticides have since been received by all the districts in the Province.
Mr. Lukwanda explained that the government’s intervention follows reports of the presence of Fall Armyworms across the province in the second week of December 2025.
“Fortunately for the province, the infestation is low as all the districts have been receiving rain fall apart from the valley areas of Luangwa and Kafue (Chiawa) were received rainfall amounts are low.”
“The timely response by the government affirms commitment to protecting the maize crop for enhanced national food security,” he added.
