The EmpowHER Fund aims to ensure that women and girls in all their diversity can access and use the HIV-prevention methods that best fit their lives. In sub-Saharan Africa, young women (especially ages 15–24) continue to bear a disproportionate burden of HIV, representing 63% of new infections. Many face limited or unsuitable prevention options.
New HIV-prevention tools such as Lenacapavir (6-monthly), Apretude (2-monthly), the Dual Prevention Pill, and the Dapivirine vaginal ring provide expanded choice. However, true choice also requires knowledge, confidence, stigma-free services, supportive policies, and strong leadership from women and girls themselves.
