First National Bank (FNB) Zambia has reopened its refurbished Luanshya Branch, with Government highlighting the bank’s investment as an important contribution to financial inclusion and local economic development.
Speaking at the reopening today, Luanshya District Commissioner Paul Malele said the investment demonstrated FNB Zambia’s confidence in the district and commitment to providing customers with modern and convenient banking services.
Mr. Malele stressed that financial institutions have a critical role to play in supporting Zambia’s economic growth by providing individuals, entrepreneurs, farmers and businesses with access to financial services and capital.
He noted that the investment was particularly important as Government seeks to accelerate economic growth, create jobs, support local enterprises, attract investment and improve livelihoods under the Grow Zambia Agenda.
“Financial institutions have a critical role to play in unlocking opportunities by providing individuals, entrepreneurs, farmers, and businesses with access to the financial services and capital they need to grow and succeed.”
Mr. Malele also encouraged residents of Luanshya to embrace formal banking and digital financial services, while supporting local businesses and entrepreneurship.
He noted that although Luanshya has a strong mining heritage, its future economic growth would increasingly depend on entrepreneurship, small and medium enterprises, commerce, agriculture and innovation.
“It is for this reason that investments such as this refurbished branch are so important. They contribute directly to Zambia’s development aspirations by expanding access to financial services, promoting savings and investment, supporting business growth, and advancing financial inclusion,” he noted.
The District Commissioner commended FNB Zambia for maintaining access to banking services during the refurbishment through its mobile banking unit, agents and digital channels, stating that the reopening of the branch was not only an investment in banking infrastructure but also in local businesses, entrepreneurs, households and communities.
“To the leadership and staff of FNB Zambia, I commend you for your continued commitment to serving this community and for investing in infrastructure that supports both customer needs and national development priorities,” Mr. Malele stated.
And FNB Retail Business Executive, Mwamba Musambo said the refurbishment demonstrates the bank’s commitment to providing a modern, convenient and customer-centred banking experience.

She added that the Bank would continue to provide convenient banking solutions that meet customers wherever they are, further highlighting the recently introduced FNB Vacant Land Loan, which provides qualifying customers with financing of up to K1.5 million to purchase land.
And Bank Marketing Officer, Kasali Kaingu said the refurbishment reflects FNB’s desire to provide an environment that is welcoming, modern, efficient, and aligned with the expectations of today’s customer.
