Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has maintained fuel pump prices for September 2026 despite upward pressure on international oil prices and the exchange rate.
Under the new pricing structure, petrol will remain at K25.29 per litre, diesel at K26.86, kerosene at K27.02, while Jet A-1 will continue selling at K28.71 per litre.
In a statement, Board Chairperson James Banda ERB noted that international oil prices for petrol, diesel and kerosene/Jet A-1 came under upward pressure during the period under review due to continued geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
“Despite the stated movements in pricing fundamentals, the ERB has maintained the pump prices of domestic petroleum products for September 2026,” Mr. Banda stated.
He attributed the ERB’s decision to continued policy measures aimed at mitigating increases in domestic fuel prices, including the suspension of Excise Duty and zero-rating of Value Added Tax (VAT), as well as the regulatory price-smoothing mechanism.
“This is premised on the continued policy mitigation through the suspension of Excise Duty and zero rating of Value Added Tax (VAT) in addition to regulatory price smoothening mechanism,” he added.
Mr. Banda said the current fuel prices will remain in force until the next fuel price review.
