MEDEF INTERNATIONAL IDENTIFIES 30 FRENCH COMPANIES FOR ZAMBIA INVESTMENT MISSION

France’s largest representative business organization, MEDEF International,  has identified 30 French companies with potential interest in investing in Zambia for a business and investment mission scheduled for November, 2026.

The mission will explore investment opportunities in mining, renewable energy, logistics, agriculture, manufacturing, water infrastructure and value addition.

During a meeting in Paris on Thursday, Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) Director General Albert Halwampa and MEDEF International Project Officer for Africa, Maxime Koutchenkoff, reaffirmed their commitment to working together to mobilize French investors for the planned mission to Zambia.

The two parties also agreed to deepen economic cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at identifying priority areas of engagement and strengthening institutional collaboration.

Further, discussions highlighted the strategic importance of the Lobito Corridor as a driver of regional economic growth, with opportunities extending beyond transport infrastructure to logistics, agriculture, mining, energy and industrial development.

MEDEF hailed Zambia’s ongoing economic reforms and predictable investment climate, describing them as key factors attracting growing interest from European businesses.

And Mr. Halwampa attributed the growing investor confidence in Zambia to stable macroeconomic fundamentals and ongoing policy reforms.

He underscored Zambia’s investor-friendly incentives, including opportunities in Multi-Facility Economic Zones (MFEZs), competitive tax incentives and the unrestricted 100% repatriation of after-tax profits.

Mr. Halwampa further highlighted Zambia’s access to a regional market of more than 800 million consumers, positioning the country as a competitive hub for regional trade and manufacturing.

He also invited French companies to participate in the Invest Zambia International Conference, scheduled for 9–11 December, 2026, to explore investment opportunities and forge strategic partnerships.

This is according to a statement issued by First Secretary Press at the Zambian Embassy in Paris, Naomi Mweemba.
