Lunsemfwa Hydro Power Company Limited (LHPC) has partnered with Lusaka Telecom Solutions in a move aimed at accelerating digital transformation.

According to LHPC, the partnership involves the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) and Fibre Optic Distribution Panels across key transmission lines.

The company disclosed that the initiative marks a major milestone in its commitment to operational excellence, system reliability and infrastructure modernization.

“This is the first time OPGW will be installed on our network, an important step forward in our digital transformation journey,” the firm stated.

It explained that the OPGW system is expected to serve as the digital backbone of LHPC’s transmission infrastructure, enabling SCADA integration, differential protection, and secure internal communications.

“This project will improve system reliability, reduce fault response times, and ensure the delivery of more consistent and dependable power to both industries and communities,” it added.

The company said the partnership aligns with its values of building local capacity, supporting Zambian enterprise, and investing in homegrown talent.

“We now look forward to the successful implementation of this transformative project,”it concluded.
