FRA ASSURES UNPAID FARMERS FUNDS ARE WITH PAYING BANKS

Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has assured farmers who have not yet been paid for the maize supplied to its various depots countrywide during the 2025 crop marketing season, that their funds have already been released to participating paying banks in their respective districts.

In a statement, FRA Executive Director, Justin Chuunka said all farmer details, together with the corresponding amounts due to each farmer, have been submitted to the paying banks.

“The Food Reserve Agency has disbursed to banks all funds for farmers who supplied maize to its various depots countrywide during the 2025 crop marketing season, but are yet to be paid,” Mr. Chuunka stated.

He explained that the Agency has expanded payment options to include mobile money accounts and bank transfers, in addition to over-the-counter bank payments, as a way of expediting the process.

“Farmers wishing to be paid via mobile money platforms are advised to visit FRA offices in their areas and fill in a form for the process to be completed,” he advised.

Mr. Chuunka said it is the Agency’s desire that farmers embrace digital modes of payment to help quicken the payment process.

“The Agency understands how important timely payments are to farmers and their operations, and it regrets the frustration this situation has caused.”

“In this regard, the Agency has continued working with banks to ensure the remaining payments are concluded promptly,” Mr. Chuunka added.
